Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most famous roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series, and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. After her parents divorced, they moved together with their mother into Los Angeles. Though she struggled financially in 2001, her debut came as Rachel's Room's primary character. Her performance in the role of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV film Murder in Greenwich in 2002 earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford, a role she played in Lost from 2004 to 2005 was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Leaving the series Grace wanted to appear as a film actress, and had played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. In 2007, she starred on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and also, as Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of these roles. Grace returned to the Lost series for the last two episodes as Shannon. The year was 2013, and she appeared in the sixth season of Californication. She is Faith, a groupie who acts as a muse to the stars and catches the attention to Hank Moody (David Duchovny). Gyllenhaal is a part of the family, and is the older cousin of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first roles were in films of her father as an adolescent. With her brother, she also appeared on the screen in Donnie Darko (2000). The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performances as the lead in the erotic romance comedy Secretary (2002) and in the drama Sherrybaby (2006) both of which resulted in the Golden Globe Award nomination. In the wake of several successful commercial films like World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). The year 2009 was the time she was recognized for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her portrayal of a single mom as she appeared in Crazy Heart. The subsequent roles she has played include Nanny McPhee, the Big Bang and Hysteria. In addition to her role as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she has also appeared as a character in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). The most recent roles were the protagonist in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The Lost Daughter was also nominated for The Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
